Douglas Brown Is an Independent Artist/Creative, currently based in Toronto and rooted in Ontario, Canada. Contextually, his practice and creative process hinge on both current events and a current state of mind; a reaction to the Zeitgeist. 

Although many of his works would likely be considered abstract, there is an inherent sense of expressionism through weaving patterns and concepts, as a form of storytelling. Douglas’s tableaus are rich in symbolism, pattern manipulation and layered information, providing a richness of mise-en-page, oftentimes to an illusory effect. 

Engaging with industrial tools and pigments such as silkscreen and monotypes, Douglas is able to push the normally commercial and industrial medium to artistic proportions and results, thus manifesting the craft further into the realm of fine art and limited editions. 

Douglas’s career has yielded exhibitions in galleries and art hubs in both Canada and abroad, namely New York City. Traces of ideas stemming from themes of Science Fiction, Astronomy and Cosmology can be found throughout his numerous works to date.
