‘Moments of Clarity’

When facing outward and all you see is chaos, looking inward becomes the priority to stem the tide of today’s societal pressures. One must channel and claim their sanity amidst the turbulence by way of whatever chosen escape mechanism. In the case of Doug Brown this is achieved through his painting and mark making practice. This new series is a reaction to turmoil as a result of the ongoing pandemic and reflects the surreal and sublime moments experienced during the production of the work, while living in tandem with the looming global crisis and subsequent calamity. Free from guilt and anything heavy, Doug is able to elaborate his practice through diversity of chroma and vector-based dynamicism, addressing an inner
universe of ambitious creativity.
